The Asian Association of Police Studies is an international organization
embracing scholarly, scientific, practical and professional knowledge
concerning policing and crime control. This includes the evaluation
and development of police system and activities, legislation and
practice of criminal law, as well as the law enforcement, judicial
and correctional systems.
The Association's objective is to bring together a multidisciplinary
forum fostering study, research, and education on policing issues.
Its members include practitioners, academicians, and students in
the many fields of criminal justice.
The Association conducts annual meetings for its membership, each
devoted to a discussion of a particular topic of general interest.
The 1st meeting was held in August 2000 in Korea, the 2nd in August
2001 in Taipei, the 3rd AAPS Annual Meeting was held in 29th July
2002 in Hong Kong. The 4th AAPS Annual Meeting was held between
15-18 December 2003 in Korea again. The 5th AAPS Annual Meeting
was held between
8-12 August 2004 in Texas, USA. The 6th AAPS Annual Meeting is
due to be held between 17-20 October 2005 in Beijing, China.
Members will receive the Asian Policing journal, due to be published
once a year. The AAPS has regional offices in places such as
China, Hong
Kong, Korea, Taipei and the United States, that distribute
information and announcements on a regular basis.
